The Opening Remarks

From the opening of pre-show speeches into the darkness of the blindfold on Katurian, this montage takes us through the reveal of the two police officers behind the two way mirror. 

The Little Apple Men Story

This is the first story presented to the audience in the production. The detective and officer question Katurian's story writing and motives for writing the production. The story also begs the question is Katurian responsible?

The Tale of the 3 Gibbets Crossroads

The Tale of the 3 Gibbets Crossroads examines Katurian's psyche and overall thoughts that influence his writing and stories. Detective Tupolski enacts the story for the audience to see as Katurian listens into his storytelling. 

Interrogation

This undertone structure continued throughout the interrogation scenes switching from different locales and in levels as the heaviness of the scene progressed. 

The Little Green Pig Story

Katurian's love for Michal is expressed in his story-telling, although the dark and twisted worlds exist, it becomes clear how intense his compassion for his brother is through his murder. The little green pig story is the last story Michal ever hears from Katurian and I wanted to be certain that there was an apt feeling for this moment.

The Final Story

The final story of the play is after Katurian rises from his murder. The story is of the Pillowman visiting Michal's childhood and seeking to help him end his life. Michal turns away the Pillowman out of selflessness telling him that he'd rather hear the stories his brother would write one day.
